Welcome to Africa community media information hub on covid 19 and health
False or misleading information on the Coronavirus can drive societies apart and is a threat to public health. Access to reliable information remains key in responding to the pandemic and needs to be ensured at all levels of society – from governments, public health authorities, civil society to citizens.
EACOMNET and AMARC Africa in partnership with UNESCO and Africa CDC have come together to set – up a one stop online Hub on COVID – 19 related information and resources for community media journalists and citizens in Africa. The hub is home to information and resources including community radio programmes, videos, podcasts, toolkits, drama, features, articles, safety materials among others.
The hub has also simplified fact checking, messages and actions on Covid 19 for use by community media audiences through animations, comics, digital stories and info graphics. It is a source for training opportunities and provide a database for scientific endeavours and engagements on Covid – 19 and related health challenges in Africa. Community media journalists now have access to reliable information about the risks of spreading wrong information, handling the sensitive task of communicating on vaccines and more generally examples and solutions related to addressing COVID-19 disinformation.
